Fall Newsletter

Dear Give A Cake Bakery Supporters,

What an incredible end to summer and start to fall we’ve had at Give A Cake Bakery! From celebrating our two-year anniversary as a registered 501(c)(3) organization to welcoming several new volunteers, it’s been a busy and exciting time for us. Between September and October alone, we delivered 124 baked goods to the Newton community Freedge!

We also launched our afterschool program in partnership with Somerville Parks and Recreation Teen Programs. In this program, we’ve been teaching business and social impact ventures through the lens of Give A Cake Bakery. Over the past four weeks, our amazing students have baked and delivered 315 special treats to the Somerville Homeless Coalition and local seniors. These students not only learned about business and baking, but they also organized a beautiful event for Somerville seniors, including muffins, set tables with pink and blue plates and utensils, and hand-crafted flower bouquets—all with the goal of brightening someone’s day. We could not be prouder of these incredible young people and are excited for what the final two weeks of the program will bring!

In addition to our work in Somerville, we had a wonderful team baking day at the Brighton Presentation School Community Center. Volunteers from both our Boston and Newton programs came together for a fun-filled afternoon of baking cookies. We made about 30 delicious cookies to donate to the Freedge, and the day gave us a chance to bond, collaborate, and truly work together as a family. It was a fantastic reminder of the power of teamwork and community, and we’re grateful for everyone who came out to be part of it!

We’re also thrilled to share that Give A Cake Bakery was featured in Newton South High School’s Lion’s Roar Newspaper! Sports editor Sarah Schwartz wrote a wonderful piece that includes interviews with volunteers, supporters, and our founder, Julia Conroy. We’re so grateful to her for helping us share our story with the local community.

Our media coverage didn’t stop there! WCVB5 News joined the Newton South field hockey team to recognize Give A Cake Bakery with a "High Five" highlight. Thanks to the support of the field hockey team, WCVB5, and our amazing volunteers, we’ve been able to raise hundreds of dollars to continue our work. We are deeply grateful for all the donations and support we’ve received.
