We had such an incredible month this March! From dropping off 140 baked goods to the Newton Community Freedge, to attending Somerville Homeless Coalition’s Spring Into Action event at the Crystal Ballroom, this month was so special.
We continued working to finalize our plans for our internship program at MATCH Charter High School and are so excited to be working with such an incredible group of students who are eager to get to work. Our team of volunteers has also been growing through our recent collaboration with Newton South High School’s Fight Against Hunger Club as we ran a pie raffle for Pi Day! The incredible members of the club put up posters to promote donations of $3.14 for a chance to win delicious pies baked by members of the club. We continued the Pi Day celebration by baking eight pies, four apple pies and four chicken pot pies, for first responders in Reading and Andover through L3Harris Technologies.
We were excited to meet with Broadcast Journalism students from Newton North High School to share our story through an interview. We were so grateful to be represented by one of our sophomore volunteers Mimi Skali-Lami, along with our founders Julia and John Conroy. Not only was it great to meet local members of the community, but it was so inspiring to see students pursuing their interests through researching and sharing local organizations.
We are looking forward to next month when we are planning on baking the Wily Network class of 2024 graduation cake and much more! Follow our Instagram and Facebook @giveacakebakery to stay up to date on our events and engagements!
