Marketing Internship

Primary Responsibilities

Brand Representation

Act as a representative of Give A Cake Bakery by helping communicate our mission, voice, and values consistently across internal and external channels.

 Content Creation 

Develop written, visual, and digital content that supports internal communications (volunteer/partner updates) and external communications
(social media).

Content Calendar

Organize and maintain internal and external communication calendars, including organizational updates, campaigns, and community initiatives.

Communitiy Engagement

Maintain relationships by supporting internal communication with volunteers, bakers, partners, and supporters, while also engaging external audiences through digital channels and outreach efforts.

Performance Tracking

Track engagement metrics and identify opportunities to improve content performance, audience reach, and overall digital growth.

Marketing Support

Support broader marketing initiatives, including blog writing, email marketing, outreach campaigns, SEO initiatives, and research into partnership and growth opportunities.

Event Support

Assist with planning, promoting, and coordinating small-to-mid-sized events, helping drive participation, awareness, and successful execution.

Operational Support

Provide administrative support through formatting materials, uploading content, maintaining documents, scheduling coordination, and supporting workflow organization.

Qualifications

  • Education: Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing or a related Business discipline with relevant marketing experience.
     

  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, complemented by a charismatic and engaging personality.
     

  • Adaptability: Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
     

  • Time Management: Demonstrated capability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines while juggling multiple projects in a fast-paced setting.
     

  • Location & Transportation: Candidates must be based in the Boston area, able to commute, and have reliable transportation for work-related tasks and events.
     

  • Smartphone Requirements: Access to a smartphone capable of recording high-quality video for social media use. 4K capability is a plus, but not required.
     

  • Social Media Familiarity:  Experience with social media platforms and best practices, or active involvement as a micro-influencer
     

  • Design Skills: Familiarity with graphic design principles, mainly using tools like Canva or Adobe Photoshop.
     

  • ​Video Editing: Familiarity with video editing software (e.g., CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, Canva) to produce engaging, high-quality video content.

Nice-to-Have (Not Required)

  • Event Organization: Experience supporting or helping organize events, fundraisers, campus activities, community initiatives, or promotional campaigns.
     

  • Writing/Communications: Experience writing newsletters, blogs, promotional materials, or student publications.
     

  • Volunteer/Community Involvement: Participation in volunteer work, nonprofit initiatives, student leadership, or community engagement activities.
     

  • Public Relations: Exposure to outreach, partnership building, communications, or public-facing engagement through school, volunteer work, or professional experience.
     

  • Website Management: Experience editing with website platforms like Wix Studio, email platforms, or digital marketing tools is a plus.

 

  • ​Photography: Experience capturing high-quality photography for events, branding —including strong composition, lighting, editing, and producing polished visual content—is a plus.
